Role Description

The Avionics Engineer Senior will be responsible for:

• Minimum of two years of progressive experience in complex military electrical and/or electronic systems such as aircraft power distribution systems, microprocessor-based systems, real-time networks, computer graphics, and analog and digital electronics.
• Design, development, and integration of complex military electrical and/or electronic systems.
• Overseeing design and development of hardware projects; strong avionics software knowledge highly desired.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering in support of avionics subsystem definition, development, integration, verification methods, sustainment, modeling/simulation, Test and Evaluation (T&E), and Airworthiness (AW) certification.
• Providing advice and assistance with systems engineering processes including planning, analysis, design, configuration management, development, integration, verification and validation, and cost and risk.
• Translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
• Working with design, development, and test teams in support of advanced software/hardware efforts.
• Providing highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering problems.
• Performing in all phases of hardware development, integration/implementation, and analysis.
• Participating in hardware evaluations.
• Developing standards and guidelines for tasks being performed.
• Developing technical requirements based on operational scenarios across all phases of system development.
• Participating in events such as Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs), First Article Tests (FATs), and Configuration Change Boards for Airworthiness (CCB/AW).

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in a related field and ten years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five years of which must be in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF Organizations.
• OR, bachelor’s degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five of which must be in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF Organizations.
• Must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree with a major in engineering from a college or university with an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited engineering program(s) for the degree requirements of the position (e.g., electrical, mechanical, aerospace). Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for these positions.
