[Hiring] Principal Energy Engineer @BAE Systems

Role Description

BAE Systems Aerospace and Missions Systems (AMS) is seeking an energy engineer to join our energy management team supporting the eastern region properties. This technical position will report to the Energy and Utility Manager.

The energy management team is part of the AMS Facilities organization and is focused on:

• Driving progress towards building the energy management program at several AMS sites
• Supporting continuous improvement in meeting resource use reduction goals
• Lowering utility costs
• Enhancing environmental performance
• Embracing new technologies in the operation of the AMS sectors national portfolio of buildings

This is a remote position with the expectation that the selected candidate will travel to each of the sites being supported regularly. The eastern region consists of 13 properties encompassing 1.8M square feet of space, focusing on 5 major sites:

• Wayne, NJ
• Endicott, NY
• Greenlawn, NY
• Manassas, VA
• Huntsville, AL

The selected candidate will be an active member of the team at each site, driving engagement in the energy management program and leading the site's progress towards resource reduction goals. The primary function of this position is to act as an energy management resource for each facility.

The Role:

• Lead engagement with site teams through regular meetings
• Support sites in identifying reduction opportunities and developing strategies
• Establish project measurement and verification methodology
• Review design documents for upcoming projects
• Travel regularly to each site to support the site team
• Conduct internal and external audits
• Commission new projects and understand site operations related to energy consumption
• Develop and scope out capital improvement measures
• Remotely support site teams in developing new reduction projects
• Identify and capture rebates and incentives associated with reduction projects
• Optimize building operations using management systems
• Support quarterly environmental reporting through utility consumption data collection
• Collaborate with the energy management team in piloting new technology

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, Environmental Technology or 3-5 years of experience in commercial energy management, energy efficiency, energy auditing, and building infrastructure and systems
• Strong interpersonal skills involving interfacing with both internal and external parties
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Strong communication skills
• Team-oriented
• Proven problem solver, proactive in driving sites towards net zero
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience in building automation and management systems and MEP systems
• Experience in developing energy reduction projects
• Experience with energy savings calculations
