[Hiring] Platform Engineer @VELOCIX LIMITED

Role Description

Velocix provides foundational Video technology, carrier grade Video Products and services to operators and Service providers, which connect people from all around the globe, providing a personal video experience for each user. We are looking for a Platform Engineer to work as part of our Engineering team. In this role, you will focus on the performance, tuning, and resilience of our large-scale, distributed video delivery platform.

• Design, build, tune, and maintain the server, storage, network, and virtualization infrastructure that underpins the video delivery platform.
• Profile and performance-tune the platform and its SOA applications.
• Fine-tune network and kernel parameters on Linux-based systems.
• Deploy, configure, operate, and troubleshoot distributed storage and database clusters (Ceph and Cassandra).
• Automate provisioning, configuration, deployment, and routine operational tasks using Python and Ansible.
• Deploy and manage workloads across public cloud (AWS) and virtualized environments (OpenStack, Linux KVM, VMware).
• Improve the resilience and high availability of the platform.
• Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, and Product teams to define and validate non-functional requirements.
• Analyze and fix platform-related field issues.
• Practical experience using AI tools in day-to-day platform engineering activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in various technologies such as server, storage, network, IOPS, OS, Kernel, VM, and cloud architecture.
• Strong experience in tuning the platform to effectively utilize system resources.
• Strong knowledge in fine-tuning network and kernel parameters for high performance.
• Experience with Ceph and Cassandra.
• Strong experience in Python and Ansible development.
• Good knowledge of network and kernel stack in Linux-based systems.
• Strong experience with AWS cloud, virtualization, OpenStack, Linux KVM, VMware.
• Strong experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Good listening skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
