[Hiring] Performance Engineer @Energy Systems Group

Role Description

ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP is looking for a Performance Engineer to join our Public Sector East team in New England or New York. The position requires frequent travel (approximately 25%-50%), including overnight stays.

The Performance Engineer is the primary technical project developer. As the primary resource for technical expertise, Account Executives and Regional management count on Performance Engineers to:

• Understand the technical needs and wants of a customer.
• Turn that information into accurate concrete solutions.

Performance Engineers may deal with technical issues that include but are not limited to:

• Facility utility consumption analysis and use- and cost-reduction strategies.
• General capital improvements.
• Large-scale community infrastructure projects.

The Performance Engineer is responsible for:

• Technical strategies.
• Costing of projects.
• Forecasting energy reduction for a given solution.
• Creating a plan to measure and verify the energy reductions forecasted.
• Presenting findings and solutions to customers and managers.
• Assisting the delivery team to ensure smooth installations and achieve exceptional results for the customer.

The essential functions of the position include:

• Conducting in-depth site surveys to identify mechanical and operating inefficiencies within a facility.
• Analyzing utility bills and financials.
• Coordinating with contractors and providing technical solutions that are creative, economical, and technically sound.
• Facilitating adequate communication among the internal team, sub-contractors, and customers by creating technical plans, both written and schematic.
• Performing energy savings calculations, operational savings calculations, life cycle cost analysis, and feasibility analysis of recommendations and associated risks.
• Providing an energy analysis and establishing guaranteed savings based on the measures proposed.
• Creating financial models based on the parameters given by the customer and the results of the projects being developed.
• Coordinating with Account Executive and Project Manager to develop and present proposals to customers.
• Ensuring smooth installation and acting as a communication link for technical information between the operations team and the sales team.
• Identifying and working with subcontractors and consultants to provide technical analysis and descriptions for project installation.
• Approving equipment before it is ordered to ensure accurate estimates and on-time delivery.
• Determining and developing the necessary measurements to ensure the energy and operational guarantees to the customer are met.
• Being capable of being adequately self-directed and successfully creating and completing strategies in open protocol situations.
• Keeping abreast of current technologies by reading magazine articles, attending seminars and conferences, and developing relationships with contractors and suppliers.
• Maintaining full technical understanding of energy and plant/facility operations and serving as the ongoing technical resource consultant for the customer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited Engineering/Technology program or equivalent.
• Three (3) to eight (8) years’ experience in a construction or energy service related field.

Requirements

• A bonus to have: Ten (10) years’ experience in a construction or energy service related field.
• Any of the following certifications:
• CEM
• CMVP
• Any LEED Certification
• NEBB
• TAB
• Any ASHRAE Certification
• Professional License (PE)
• NCESS Record
