[Hiring] Mechanical Engineer @NuclearATC

Role Description

Remote, Part Time, Temporary Employment sought for a Mechanical Engineer or related field to develop thermal-hydraulic models for scientific apparatus using ASME B31.3-2022 code to be installed at the PSU research reactor on the University Park campus. A successful candidate will be working with a small nuclear technology startup funded by a US DOE grant.

• Develop analytical models to determine temperature at various locations.
• Involve steady-state and transient modeling.
• Work independently on tasks and explore, think critically, and ask questions.
• Interface with Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors/vendors to determine costs and form a budget.
• Training and assistance will be provided for these activities.
• Visits to State College, PA will be required to perform walkdowns of the PSU reactor facility (transportation expected to be provided by the Candidate).
• Work is expected to be approximately 5-10 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience in SolidWorks or other software platforms for developing analytical models.
• Nuclear Energy experience is a plus but not required.
