Role Description

We are seeking a Lead Controls & Mechatronics Engineer to bring automation to life. From controls software development to machine commissioning and production support, you'll ensure the reliable movement of millions of prescriptions through high-volume pharmacy fulfillment operations. This position reports to the Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture and is a REMOTE role requiring 40% travel.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree (HBO) or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a comparable discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Automation.
• Proven track record building, commissioning, and bringing automated machines into production.
• Experience troubleshooting real-world production equipment and supporting startups.

Requirements

• PLC Programming Expertise (Siemens)
• Strong hands-on programming experience with Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 PLCs.
• Advanced knowledge of TIA Portal and IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Experience developing and maintaining machine control software.
• Cross-Disciplinary Mechatronics Knowledge
• Ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering.
• Understanding interactions between hardware, software, motion systems, sensors, actuators, and machine design.
• Motion Control & Industrial Networking
• Experience with servo systems, frequency drives, axis tuning, homing, positioning, electronic gearing, camming, and multi-axis synchronization.
• Knowledge of industrial communications such as Modbus TCP, IO-Link, OPC UA, MQTT, and related diagnostics.
• Advanced Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
• Ability to diagnose issues spanning mechanical, electrical, software, and network domains.
• Strong communication skills to support customers, project teams, and commissioning activities under pressure.
• Proven ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
