[Hiring] Fire Protection Designer II @Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd.

Role Description

Bowman has an opportunity for a Fire Protection Designer II to join our team in Atlanta GA, Phoenix AZ, or Towson MD. Responsible for the design of fire protection engineering systems, including:

• Fire sprinkler systems
• Fire suppression systems
• Fire pump systems
• Fire alarm systems
• Life safety systems

Responsibilities

• Perform work under moderate supervision, exercising independent judgment and discretion occasionally.
• Complete work using fire protection engineering techniques and principles, reviewed by more senior staff.
• Work closely with senior staff to learn and assist in design work.
• Attend and participate in project meetings.
• Design fire protection and life safety systems.
• Perform hydrant flow testing under supervision.
• Perform fire protection design calculations, including hydraulic analysis of fire water supply and demand.
• Prepare project documents to track successful implementation from start to finish.
• Apply knowledge of fire protection code and standards across various assignments.
• Develop a working knowledge of codes applicable to the discipline.
• Attend coordination and design meetings as needed.
• Complete work according to standard design principles and practices, in compliance with company standards and quality system procedures.
• Perform non-routine and complex assignments from verbal instructions under minimum supervision.
• Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting for review.
• May coordinate the design work for a project.
• May work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Three or more (3+) years of drafting and engineering technician experience in the fire protection industry.
• Must be proficient with Revit design software.
• Experience with computer applications and fire protection engineering design software such as AutoSprink and familiarity with reading construction plans.
