[Hiring] Engineering Manager / Lead @Ophelia

Role Description

Are you passionate about helping underserved populations gain access to evidence-based addiction treatment? Lead the development of impactful digital health products that expand access to high-quality, compassionate care.

As an Engineering Manager / Lead, you’ll serve as both a hands-on technical leader and people manager, guiding a small team of engineers to build and scale core web applications. You’ll contribute directly to the codebase while shaping architecture, improving systems, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team. This role blends technical depth, leadership, and cross-functional partnership to deliver high-quality, user-centered products in a fast-paced environment.

Depending on your experience, this role may be scoped as either an Engineering Manager or a Technical Lead, with title and responsibilities aligned accordingly.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of 2–5 engineers while contributing hands-on to development
• Drive technical architecture, code quality, and best practices
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and non-technical stakeholders
• Deliver scalable web applications using technologies like Typescript, React, and Firebase (GCP)
• Improve systems, processes, and team performance through continuous iteration
• Support team development through coaching, feedback, and performance management
• Stay current on emerging technologies (including AI) to drive innovation

Qualifications

• 6+ years of engineering experience, including leading complex projects
• Experience (or strong interest) in people management and team development
• Strong technical skills across modern web technologies and architecture
• Product-oriented mindset with experience delivering MVPs and iterative solutions
• Experience working in agile, collaborative environments
• Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare) is a plus
• Full stack engineering experience
• Strong React and Typescript experience is a plus

• Compensation range: $185,000 – $195,000 USD; Compensation is dynamic at Ophelia: as long as the company performs well and meets our targets, there will be opportunities for increased compensation annually.
