[Hiring] Datacenter Site Due Diligence Design Manager @Microsoft

Role Description

Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind one of the World’s largest Cloud Infrastructures, responsible for powering all Microsoft online Products and Services as well as powering Microsoft’s “Cloud First” mission. We are looking for a Datacenter Site Due Diligence (SDD) Design Manager to help achieve our mission and to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

The Datacenter Site Due Diligence Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield and brownfield sites, with a focus on:

• Site due diligence
• Site selection
• Early grading design

This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the datacenter building, including:

• Master planning
• Feasibility studies
• Early works design
• Infrastructure planning

The role will provide design management, technical direction, decision-making, and overall leadership for our site due diligence and early works design projects. To be successful, the candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent SDD and early works projects with a focus on:

• Scopes
• Schedules
• Budgets

Engagement with key MS stakeholder groups within Microsoft, as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering, is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
• Doctorate in civil engineering, architecture, construction engineering or related field OR Master's Degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction engineering or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
• 4+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
• 4+ years' experience in project management, civil engineering specific to design and construction for mission critical or datacenter environments OR equivalent experience.
• Architecture, civil engineering, and/or urban planning background and experience.

Requirements

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Benefits

• The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year.
• In specific work locations, such as the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
• Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
