Role Description

Becht is looking for mid-career Civil Structural Engineer who wants to take the next step in their technical career. We are a world-class, family-owned multidiscipline engineering firm serving the energy sector (refining, petrochemical, and power generation industries), providing expertise that spans both traditional and emerging technology. Becht is a technical leader in pressure vessels, piping, structures, and materials and as such has a major role in international codes and standards, allowing a unique opportunity to both learn and contribute at an industry-wide level. We emphasize multidiscipline problem-solving and collaboration to solve the most challenging design and equipment reliability problems.

• Remote position with the need to travel up to 30%
• Part of the Mechanical Division within Becht, consisting of more than 40 people

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering or closely related discipline
• 5+ years’ civil and structural experience in the refining, petrochemical or power generation industries
• Foundation and structural design experience
• Knowledge of plant layout and operations
• Foundation / reinforced concrete design
• Experience working with refinery/plant equipment (tanks, plate structures, boilers, stacks, tabletop structures, fired heater incasing, etc.)

Requirements

• Professional and/or Structural Engineering License
• Experience with the application of industry codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, ACI
• Experience with field troubleshooting, repairs and system walk-downs
• Ability to travel to customer sites
• Experience with turnaround support, planning & execution
• Experience with commercial software AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro, Risa, or SAP2000
• Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and mechanics
• Self-motivated with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
