[Hiring] Civil Design Engineer II/III - Hydraulics & Hydrology @Revamp Engineering

YDay - Revamp Engineering is hiring a remote Civil Design Engineer II/III - Hydraulics & Hydrology. πŸ’Έ Salary: 99800-127000 per year πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

As a Civil Design Engineer II/III - Hydraulics & Hydrology, you will model the hydrology and hydraulics of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage sites and design the drainage that makes them buildable. H&H analysis shows where water goes on a site and shapes how the project is laid out, permitted, and constructed. Working with guidance from senior engineers, you will turn terrain, rainfall, and soils data into hydrologic and hydraulic models, drainage designs, and reports using tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D, and coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and environmental colleagues to deliver projects that bring more renewable generation onto the grid. As an employee-owner, you will share in the results of the work and help build a team where careful, well-documented engineering earns the trust of clients and colleagues.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Core Technical & Functional Responsibilities
    • Build hydrologic and hydraulic models in HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar tools to evaluate existing and proposed drainage conditions on utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage sites.
    • Run 1D and 2D floodplain and flood-depth analyses in HEC-RAS 2D, FLO-2D, or similar software to inform array layout, equipment elevations, and setbacks.
    • Calculate runoff, peak flows, and detention or retention requirements, and size culverts, channels, ponds, and other conveyance and storage features.
    • Design site drainage, grading, and stormwater management features in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and produce the supporting civil land development sheet sets.
    • Prepare erosion and sediment control plans with supporting calculations.
    • Prepare hydrology and hydraulic reports, drainage reports, and stormwater calculations for permitting submittals.
    • Process terrain, rainfall, soils, and land cover data, using GIS where needed, to build model inputs.
    • Evaluate, select, and apply standard H&H methods, adapt them for nonroutine site conditions, and bring unconventional problems to senior engineers for review.
  • Project & Portfolio Execution
    • Lead small H&H studies or drainage designs, or defined portions of larger civil scopes, from kickoff through permitting or issued-for-construction.
    • Help determine schedule and budget requirements for assigned H&H scope, and report progress and risks to the project lead.
    • Assign tasks to and coordinate work with designers and discipline team members to complete assignments.
    • Update models, calculations, and deliverables when site layouts or project inputs change.
  • Quality, Standards & Compliance
    • Ensure analyses and designs comply with company, industry, and jurisdictional stormwater, floodplain, and drainage standards, practices, and codes.
    • Follow Revamp QA/QC procedures, self-check models and calculations, and resolve review comments before issue.
    • Document model assumptions, design storms, and data sources so reviewers, clients, and permitting agencies can verify the basis of design.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and environmental staff so drainage design, flood findings, and site layouts align.
    • Coordinate with clients, project managers, and subcontractors on project expectations, data needs, and design inputs.
    • Attend project meetings and present H&H findings and recommendations for assigned work.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Perform essential duties including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
    • Perform additional related duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
  • Civil engineering design and drafting experience: typically 2+ years for Engineer II and 5+ years for Engineer III.
  • Experience in the creation of civil land development sheet sets including grading, site drainage, and access road design.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Efficient time management – handle multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision including prioritizing, organizing, and planning effectively to meet all deadlines.

Requirements

  • EIT Certificate is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GIS software tools desirable.
  • Prior renewable energy project experience is desirable.

Benefits

  • Participation in Revamp’s Employee Ownership ESOP program.
  • Competitive compensation with bonus.
  • Full benefits package offerings including 99% employer-paid health, vision, life, and dental insurance.
  • Medical, dependent care, and commuter FSA.
  • Monthly health and wellness stipend.
  • Attractive vacation, sick, and holiday pay.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • 401(k) savings plan with 100% match up to 6%, vested immediately.
  • Paid volunteer time off and charitable donation matching.
