Role Description

Zappsec Technologies converges Cloud, Network, Security, and Identity into a single discipline. We call this Intelligent Infrastructure. We design, build, and operationalize infrastructure for enterprise clients across Healthcare, Financial Services, Retail, Energy, and Manufacturing.

We are hiring a Citrix and Azure Virtual Desktop Architect to lead the design of enterprise End User Computing solutions across both platforms. You will own the full design lifecycle, from requirements gathering through implementation oversight and lifecycle management. A core part of this role is leading replatforming engagements that move clients from Citrix to Azure Virtual Desktop. You will translate business requirements into secure, scalable EUC architectures, and connect that design to Zappsec's Cloud, Network, and Identity practices. This is a client-facing role. You will act as the technical authority for Citrix and AVD across client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops solutions, including on-premises, hybrid, and Citrix DaaS deployments
• Design end-to-end Azure Virtual Desktop environments, including host pools, session hosts, workspaces, and application groups
• Lead replatforming engagements that migrate workloads from Citrix to Azure Virtual Desktop, including discovery, application compatibility assessment, and cutover planning
• Architect Citrix ADC (NetScaler) for load balancing, global server load balancing, and secure remote access through Citrix Gateway
• Architect Azure networking for AVD, including virtual network design, Azure Firewall, Private Link, and ExpressRoute or VPN connectivity
• Produce High-Level Design and Low-Level Design documents that follow Zappsec's architecture standards for both Citrix and AVD target states
• Lead capacity planning and performance engineering across both platforms for large user populations
• Define profile management and image management strategies using FSLogix, MCS, PVS, and Azure managed images
• Apply Zero Trust principles to EUC architecture, and connect Okta or Microsoft Entra to Citrix and AVD access policies
• Align EUC architecture with Zappsec's cloud landing zone offerings when clients run workloads in Azure or AWS
• Build cost models and platform comparisons between Citrix and AVD to support client decisions
• Own the EUC technology roadmap and lifecycle management, including platform strategy decisions
• Serve as the escalation point for complex, architecture-level issues across both platforms
• Support pre-sales work: solution estimation, RFP and RFI responses, statements of work, and replatforming business cases
• Mentor engineers and review implementation work against the architecture
• Present designs and migration roadmaps to client stakeholders and lead architecture review sessions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Requirements

• Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenApp/XenDesktop), Citrix DaaS, and Citrix Cloud
• Azure Virtual Desktop: host pools, session hosts, workspaces, and application groups
• Citrix to AVD replatforming: assessment methodology, application compatibility, coexistence, and cutover planning
• Citrix ADC (NetScaler): load balancing, GSLB, Citrix Gateway, AAA
• Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) and Machine Creation Services (MCS)
• FSLogix, App Layering, and profile management technologies across both platforms
• Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
• Azure networking: virtual networks, Azure Firewall, Private Link, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway
• Virtualization platforms: VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Azure
• Storage architecture for VDI and AVD workloads, including Azure Files and Azure NetApp Files
• Strong PowerShell skills for automation, orchestration, and reporting across Citrix and Azure
• Experience integrating Okta or Microsoft Entra with Citrix and AVD access policies (preferred)
• Familiarity with Zero Trust network access patterns for remote application delivery (preferred)

Certifications

• Citrix Certified Expert, Virtualization (CCE-V), required or in progress
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty (AZ-140), required or in progress
• Citrix Certified Professional, Virtualization (CCP-V), preferred
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), preferred
• ITIL Foundation, preferred
• TOGAF or an equivalent architecture certification, a plus
