[Hiring] Bridge Drafting / Geo-Spatial Engineering Assistant 1/2/3 Flex @State of Alaska

Role Description

The Bridge Drafting and Geo-Spatial Engineering Assistant plays a hands-on role in the drafting of bridge design projects and processing of information collected during bridge inspections. You'll be involved in a variety of exciting tasks, including:

• Preparing construction plan sheets
• Conducting bridge inspections
• Assisting with the collection and processing of bridge management data
• Preparing preliminary bridge layouts and detailed final plans using Auto CAD
• Assisting with drone and sonar data collection efforts

Qualifications

• Knowledge of conceptualizing, developing, producing, understanding, and using plans, models, blueprints, and maps
• Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods related to the design and analysis of complex structures
• Uses information technology in accessing, collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and disseminating data and information
• Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain public works systems
• Knowledge of the uses of database management systems and software

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture, or land surveying from a postsecondary institution accredited by ABET
• Or a bachelor's degree from a non-ABET accredited institution with an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate
• Special Note: An applicant who will obtain a bachelor's degree within nine months may qualify to apply
• Engineering Assistant 1 requires a bachelor's degree and EIT/LSIT certification or passing the FE/FS examination
• Engineering Assistant 2 requires one year of entry-level experience as an Engineering Assistant 1
• Engineering Assistant 3 requires two years of relevant experience, with one year at the intermediate trainee level
