Role Description

Vermont State University Online seeks an adjunct instructor to teach a 4-credit Business course during the Fall 2026 semester between 8/24/2026-12/18/2026. The course will be taught 100% online using Canvas.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Canvas and a generic course template for all courses.
• Add outcomes, academic materials, discussions, and assignments that support the course description.

• Course Description:
  • Fundamental economic theory and practice.
  • Human behavior and decision-making related to microeconomic concepts:
    • Scarcity
    • Availability of resources
    • Supply and demand
    • Opportunity cost
    • Pricing in competitive and non-competitive markets
  • Macroeconomic principles:
    • Aggregate supply and demand
    • Analysis of production
    • Employment and unemployment
    • Monetary and fiscal policy in the US
    • Stabilization of the economy
• General education: Fulfills the Social Science general education requirement.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years of experience teaching fully online, asynchronous courses.
• Demonstrated familiarity with adult learning theory.
• Experience with Canvas is preferred.
• Responsible for designing the course with support from an instructional designer and the structured VTSU Online Canvas Template.
• Expected to add weekly content including outcomes, readings, videos, discussions, and assessments in alignment with the course description.
• Follow VTSU Online Standards of course design, readiness, instructor presence, engagement, assessment, and accessibility.
• Full course must be ready and published at least one week prior to the start of the semester.

Compensation

• Dependent upon online teaching experience (within and outside of the Vermont State Colleges System).
• Starting range: $1000-1250 per credit.
