• You know how to keep students engaged from a distance, recognizing this as a significant challenge in virtual education.

Responsibilities

• Student Experience and Academics:
  • Own the quality of the virtual student experience from first login through graduation.
  • Lead the delivery of curriculum and instruction, maintaining high standards for rigor and relevance.
  • Build systems to keep students engaged and progressing online.
  • Oversee credit recovery for students who have fallen behind.
  • Ensure effective counseling, coaching, and wraparound support reach students at a distance.
• People and Team Leadership:
  • Recruit, hire, and develop the full virtual school staff.
  • Lead a largely remote team with clear expectations and accountability.
  • Train and empower staff to execute the vision independently.
  • Grow a school culture rooted in values of growth, excellence, integrity, service, and teamwork.
• Enrollment and Retention:
  • Partner with enrollment and marketing to meet enrollment targets.
  • Own student retention, reducing dropout rates and re-engaging disconnected students.
  • Monitor early signals of disengagement and act proactively.
• Operations and Compliance:
  • Run day-to-day operations to ensure staff and students have what they need to succeed.
  • Ensure compliance with Ohio's e-school and dropout prevention requirements.
  • Manage the technology backbone of the school in partnership with central support.
  • Deliver compliance, performance, and reporting to the school board and state sponsor.
• Data and Performance:
  • Own the school's core metrics: graduation rate, attendance, credit completion, and retention.
  • Use data to identify areas where students are stalling and redesign ineffective parts of the experience.
  • Report performance honestly to the Vice President of School Operations and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in virtual education leadership.
• Strong understanding of dropout prevention and recovery strategies.
• Ability to lead and develop remote teams.
• Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics.
