Role Description
The Academic Mentor provides high-dosage, targeted tutoring to high school students based on their individual academic needs. The position provides small-group support to reinforce essential skills, address learning gaps, and accelerate academic growth and success.
Please note β while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face-to-face attendance will be required several times per year to support in-person state testing and student events.

Provide consistent, high-dosage tutoring to high school students in small groups.

Deliver targeted support in English, high school mathematics, and other core academic areas based on student needs and data.

Use provided instructional materials and strategies to reinforce classroom learning and address identified skill gaps.

Build positive relationships that promote student engagement, confidence, academic ownership, and persistence.

Support students in developing effective study habits, organization, and strategies for academic success.

Monitor and document student attendance, participation, and academic progress.

Communicate student progress and concerns with teachers and school leadership.

Participate in training and follow school procedures for student safety, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferred.

Teaching degree or certification is not required.

Experience working with high school-aged students preferred.

Experience in tutoring, mentoring, youth programs, education, or a similar setting preferred.

Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Patient, dependable, and committed to supporting student achievement and postsecondary success.

Comfortable using technology and virtual learning platforms.
