[Hiring] Virtual College Success Advisor @Bottom Line

Role Description

The Virtual Success Advisor is a national role responsible for supporting college students from first-generation and low-income backgrounds through Bottom Line's virtual advising model.

• Reporting to the Senior Program Manager on the National Program Team.
• Spearheads Bottom Line's hybrid advising approach, serving students through customized content delivered via SMS and supplemented by live, virtual sessions.
• Part of a connected national and regional team, partnering with regional Success Coaches when in-person intervention is needed.
• Acts as the human anchor of Bottom Line's scaled advising support layer as the organization aims to serve 20,000 students by 2030.

Direct Student Support – 70%

• Engage directly with students by monitoring communication on messaging platforms.
• Answer student questions and provide meaningful engagement when the chat bot is insufficient.
• Offer live virtual support through video calls and live chats.
• Coach students through completing key milestones centered around Bottom Line's DEAL model, including:
  • Enrolling in classes.
  • Paying semester balance.
  • Creating a professional resume.
  • Completing financial aid applications.
• Help students resolve general obstacles by coaching them on self-advocacy and resourcefulness skills.
• Support the implementation of a summer melt campaign to ensure students achieve critical milestones, including:
  • Finalizing outstanding financial aid issues.
  • Paying fall balance or creating a payment plan.
  • Completing important forms for on-campus or commuting plans.
  • Accessing work study and other campus resources.
• Coordinate with regional Success Coaches for in-person intervention and document the handoff in Salesforce.
• Provide responsive support to students via a communal advising model that combines technology and live virtual support.

Data Entry – 5%

• Track and record student progress using quantitative and qualitative measures.
• Enter data and meeting notes into CRM within 2 business days of interaction or status change.
• Maintain accurate student contact information in the student CRM.

Organizational Support – 5%

• Represent the Bottom Line brand positively and increase brand awareness in the community.
• Support planning and staffing blueprint for program events, including:
  • Recruitment presentations.
  • Annual Recognition Night.
  • Career events.
• Provide additional program support as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and work authorization.
• 1-2 years of related work experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to Bottom Line's Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
• Experience developing trusting relationships with students and coaching them toward goals.
• Demonstrated ability to craft and customize messages that inspire action among first-generation college students.

Requirements

• Fluency in a language other than English is a plus.
• Experience with virtual student advising is a plus.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position. Work schedules are structured around student needs and may include evening and weekend hours.

Expected Travel

Minimal. This is a fully virtual role. Occasional travel may be required for team gatherings, organizational events, or in-person student events as needed.
