Role Description
Reading Apprenticeship Essentials provides an introduction to the Reading Apprenticeship framework and its impact on student motivation and achievement, with an emphasis on participantsโ practicing Reading Apprenticeship routines in the classroom. Reading Apprenticeship Essentials professional learning is facilitated both in person and digitally. Online facilitators are responsible for guiding participants through the learning experience during synchronous video calls, responding thoughtfully and timely to participant posts in Canvas, sensing and responding to individual and group needs, and modeling best practices as an online facilitator.
Online course facilitators will:

Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous instruction modules including reviewing and responding to discussion posts

Regularly communicate with participants about their progress as well as upcoming course activities

Track participation in the Canvas course system

Participate in planning and debriefing calls with the facilitation team

Complete a final reflection and/or debrief meeting at the conclusion of the learning
In Person Facilitators:

Facilitate in person full days of professional learning

Respond to participant feedback at the end of each learning day

Participate in planning and debriefing calls with the facilitation team

Complete a final reflection and/or debrief meeting at the conclusion of the learning
Qualifications

Certified Reading Apprenticeship facilitator
-
Experience utilizing the Reading Apprenticeship framework as a teacher or instructional coach

Ability to provide relationship- and strength-based consultation using inquiry and reflective practices

Knowledge of best practices in online teaching

Knowledge of the Canvas learning management system

Knowledge of WestEdโs suite of Reading Apprenticeship professional development resources and publications
Requirements

Hourly: $50
