[Hiring] Teaching Assistant @University of Ottawa

Role Description

The Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Lab Monitor will support the course SSP3900, an experiential learning self-directed course, guiding students in their projects and providing academic support.

• Grading and feedback (≈ 85 hours)
• Student contact (≈ 15 hours)
• Meetings with the professor and initial training (≈ 10 hours)
• Zoom workshops during the semester (≈ 10 hours)

Qualifications

• Graduate student (health sciences or related field)
• Fully bilingual: excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English
• Ability to work independently, attention to detail, and good time management skills
• Experience in grading and teaching using digital tools (Brightspace, Zoom, MS Teams)
• Good understanding of how self-directed courses work at uOttawa
• Good understanding of experiential learning or the uOCompetencies framework
• Experience in mentoring, tutoring, CO-OP programs, or career development at uOttawa (an asset)

• Experience supervising students in a self-directed course
• High degree of autonomy and ability to work independently in a flexible, student-centred learning environment

Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $31.89 for undergraduate students, $50.25 for graduate students (2024-2025)
• These rates do not include vacation pay nor statutory pay
