Role Description
The North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) was established by the North Carolina State Board of Education as an online community service K-12 public school for students throughout the state of North Carolina. NCVPS is governed by the North Carolina State Board of Education (NCSBE) and reports on a day-to-day basis to the NCDPI Chief Academic Officer.
As a result of NCVPSβ work, students in the public schools of North Carolina have access to online courses that are unavailable due to teacher shortages or scheduling conflicts. These courses provide students with equity of access to a high-quality educational experience regardless of where they live within the state.
Qualifications

Must hold a current NC license (or NCDPI receipt as proof of submitted license application) in applicable curriculum and grade-level specific areas.

Preference will be given to applicants who have both NC Math 9-12 and Math 6-9 licenses.
Requirements

Management of Instructional Time:

Have appropriate devices, internet access, materials, supplies, and equipment.

Post and maintain office hours for all stakeholders (students, parents, and school personnel).

Provide instruction primarily through asynchronous methods.

Use the learning management system for instruction and provide personalized feedback on student assignments.

Instructional Presentation:

Facilitate lessons using understandable concepts and language.

Provide relevant examples and demonstrations to illustrate concepts and skills.

Adhere to standards and course curriculum.

Provide personalized instruction and interact daily within various digital systems.

Collaborative:

Serve as a subject-matter expert and engage in continuous collaboration and communication with the enrolling school.

Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance:

Maintain clear, firm, and reasonable standards and due dates.

Check all studentsβ performance and adjust instruction and feedback as needed.

Instructional Feedback:

Provide grading and personalized feedback for all student work to encourage growth and mastery.

Digital Literacy:

Display excellent digital skills and facilitate learning within a digital environment.

Facilitating Instruction:

Have an instructional plan compatible with curricular goals and standards.

Use diagnostic information to personalize learning and maintain accurate records.

Align objectives, learning strategies, assessment, and student needs at appropriate levels.

Interacting Within the Educational Environment:

Treat all students fairly and interact effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and the community.
