Role Description

The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks a Student Success Coach in the Office of Student Affairs. The Success Coach empowers students on their UMGC journey by:

• Listening, guiding, motivating, and celebrating the student’s success from enrollment through graduation.
• Co-creating academic plans and providing the right resources at the right time.
• Connecting students to the University community and motivating them to achieve their goals.

Success Coaches will provide concierge level support to an assigned population of students through:

• Multi-channel student engagement including inbound and outbound calls, texts, virtual advising appointments, and emails.
• Spending most of their day on the phone.

A successful candidate will:

• Use strong critical-thinking skills to help a diverse population of adult learners.
• Enjoy working in a high energy, fast-paced environment that relies heavily on technology.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm, curiosity, and initiative.
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills and establish rapport with students.

Qualifications

• An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• One (1) year of relevant work experience providing outstanding customer service with heavy inbound/outbound phone volume.
• Excellent customer service and time management skills.
• High learning agility, creative problem solving, interpersonal, oral, and written communications, and presentation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent computer and keyboarding skills (Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Requirements

• Employees that live within 50 miles of UMGC are required to work university commencement.
• Employees are required to work some evening and weekend hours.
• Employees may be required to work certain holiday hours based on business needs.
• Equipment shall be provided by the successful hire.
• All computing equipment must be connected to broadband internet through an Ethernet connection.
• All computing equipment must have upload and download speeds of at least 25MBPS.
• Candidates may not perform personal business during scheduled work hours.
