[Hiring] Student - Step Up Virtual Tutor @Southern New Hampshire University

Role Description

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Virtual Tutor for our partner organization Step Up Tutoring. Step Up Tutoring is mobilizing a national network of tutors to provide free, one-on-one online tutoring and mentorship to 2nd–6th grade students from underserved communities.

• Work virtually with students in 2nd-6th grade, two sessions each week
• Tutor/Mentor a minimum of 3 students
• Each tutoring session is 45 minutes, with 15 minutes of prep time (count each session as 1 hour on your timesheet)
• Focus on building fundamental math and literacy skills using evidence-based online programs
• Participate in live training sessions to prepare for tutoring (no prior experience required)

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
• Work study part of financial aid package
• Students with work study may be prioritized
• Mandatory background check
• Commit for a minimum of 3 months
• Access to the internet and a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone
• Strong communication skills
• Comfortable using email and video communication software

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
