Role Description

The Special Education Local & State Testing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all special education-related local and state assessment processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, district, and testing program requirements. This position serves as the primary point of contact for special education testing accommodations, assessment participation decisions, testing escalations, and specialized testing supports. The position collaborates closely with Special Education Compliance staff, campus administrators, counselors, data teams, testing personnel, and families to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate testing accommodations and equitable access to assessments while maintaining testing integrity and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, Counseling or related field
• Three (3) years of experience in Special Education services, compliance, assessment coordination, or related educational roles
• Experience participating in ARD/IEP processes and accommodation planning
• Federal and state special education laws and regulations
• Texas Education Agency (TEA) assessment policies and accommodation guidelines
• ARD/IEP processes and documentation requirements
• State and local assessment administration procedures
• Test security and confidentiality requirements
• Special education compliance and monitoring procedures
• Assistive technology and accommodation supports for students with disabilities
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills
• Data analysis and reporting skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Documentation review and audit skills
• Training and presentation skills
• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines during high-volume testing periods
• Interpret and apply complex testing regulations and compliance requirements
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in data management and monitoring activities
• Provide leadership and guidance in complex accommodation and assessment situations
• Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel) proficiency
• Ability to travel 25% of the time
• Ability to clear required background check

Requirements

• Valid Special Education Texas Teaching Certificate or comparable state educator certification
• Texas residency
• Salary: Around $60,000
