Role Description

The Sessional Lecturer provides instruction to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Business and IT. The primary responsibility is to develop and teach a theoretically, methodologically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level.

• Deliver the course using a technology-enhanced learning approach.
• Utilize a variety of inclusive teaching and learning strategies and assessments.
• Prepare, deliver, and grade all course material and assignments.
• Be available for consultation with students during and following the course session.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated excellent teaching contributions with a proven aptitude for teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Proven commitment to providing innovative and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Evidence of an ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate students in a Bachelor of Commerce program.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the Learning Management System, Canvas.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver classes remotely, using online modalities such as Google Meet.
• Excellent organizational skills for managing course delivery and responding to student inquiries in a timely manner.

Requirements

• A PhD in Accounting or a closely related field, OR a Master’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline, complemented by a recognized professional designation (e.g., CPA).
• Experience teaching using a case-based, discussion-oriented approach.
• Significant, relevant professional experience in financial accounting and accounting systems.
• Demonstrated depth in financial accounting and management control systems, including areas such as cost analysis, performance measurement, and strategic decision-making.
• Experience applying financial accounting concepts in complex, real-world or case-based settings.
• Preference for candidates with demonstrated teaching excellence in a commerce program in a post-secondary environment.
• Proven experience managing large classes and diverse populations.
• Experience coordinating and supervising Teaching Assistants as applicable.
• Priority for Internal Applicants who have taught any course for the University in three (3) different sessions in the past thirty-six (36) months.
