Course number and title: HUN310Y1 – Advanced Hungarian

Course description: A synchronic and diachronic survey of the Hungarian language. Conceptualized summary of grammar, syntax, and stylistics; studies in the genesis and historical stages of the language. Brief consideration of living dialects, the basics of poetics; selected problems in translation and language teaching. Readings in Hungarian.

Class Schedule: Wednesdays 11am-1pm

Qualifications

• MA degree with at least two years teaching experience in Canadian University.

Requirements

• Native command of Hungarian language.
• Knowledge of pedagogical methods of second language teaching.
• At least five years of experience in teaching Hungarian language in a Canadian University.

Salary

• $19,994.95, inclusive of 4% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer I)
• $21,398.43, inclusive of 6% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer I LT)
• $21,398.43, inclusive of 6% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer II)
• $21,907.92, inclusive of 6% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer II LT)
• $21,907.92, inclusive of 6% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer III)
• $22,457.80, inclusive of 6% vacation pay (Sessional Lecturer III LT)

Brief Description of Duties

• Planning and setting goals of the course.
• Preparing lectures.
• Teaching in class.
• Holding office hours.
• Designing and administering tests as appropriate.
• Reading and grading course papers.
• Providing students with adequate feedback.
