Role Description

This course focuses on understanding the politics of education policy development and using this knowledge for political analysis. By surveying different theories from political science and public policy and exploring different examples of education policy in different contexts, students will be able to:

  • Analyze education policy issues
  • Formulate strategies to advocate, support, or prevent education policy changes
  • Foresee potential political problems of policies

Ultimately, the course develops two types of skills:

  • Skills to conduct strategic political analysis
  • Research skills for using transdisciplinary theories to address education policy problems in a comparative way

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy or a related field
  • Demonstrated record of scholarship in Educational Leadership and Policy
  • Professional, advocacy, and/or knowledge mobilization experience in PK-12 Educational Leadership and Policy
  • Successful post-secondary teaching experience
  • Successful track record of teaching online, preferably using Canvas/Quercus

Requirements

  • Experience teaching graduate-level courses
  • Experience teaching in the subject area of the course

    • $11,030.36 - Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term
  • Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
