[Hiring] Senior Training Developer @H&R Block Management

Role Description

The Senior Training Developer Expat leads the development and delivery of comprehensive training programs that strengthen advisor expertise in expatriate tax theory, compliance, and tax return preparation. This role serves as the primary subject-matter expert on international tax matters, providing technical guidance, research support, and practical solutions to advisors, leadership, and business partners.

• Responsible for researching and interpreting complex U.S. and international tax laws.
• Translates findings into actionable training materials, job aids, and process improvements.
• Oversees ongoing tax research initiatives and monitors emerging changes in tax law.
• Ensures timely communication of critical updates across the organization.
• Drives technical development, quality, consistency, and operational excellence throughout the Expat Tax business.
• Serves as the current tax platform SME (GoSystem Tax RS), providing advanced support, best practices, and training to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax preparation and review processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.
• At least two years’ experience in course design and development of training programs and/or two years in tax return preparation, adult education or related field(s).
• Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and learning styles.
• Enrolled Agent, Certified Public Accountant or Attorney status (credentials regulated under Circular 230).
• 5 years minimum related work experience.
• Solid knowledge of tax code and regulations.
• Experience with tax theory, concepts, principles, and techniques.
• Strong analytical skills, communication skills, and effective facilitation and presentation skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, establish priorities, organize and plan work.

Requirements

• Experience with Expat team tax preparation software.
• Experience with BlockWorks, or other tax preparation software to prepare and e-file tax returns.
• Experience in tax return preparation.
• Instructional Design certification.

Pay Range Information

The pay range for this position is $73,400.00 - $110,100.00/Yr. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
