Role Description
AbsenceSoft University is our growing education platform for customers, partners, and employees, and we're looking for a Senior Director, Customer Education who's ready to get hands-on. This role sets the direction for AbsenceSoft's training and certification programs while directly contributing to the content itself. Reporting to the Chief Customer Officer and leading a small, growing team, it blends strategic direction with individual contribution β a great fit for a leader who wants to stay closely involved in the work rather than operate purely at the strategy level.
-
Set the strategy and content roadmap for AbsenceSoft University, building the calendar that turns priorities into fully developed courses and certifications.
-
Own the certification program end-to-end β exam design and content, renewal tracking, and the roadmap for new credentials β serving as final reviewer for all compliance-sensitive training material.
-
Hire, coach, and manage a small team, holding everyone β including yourself β to a high bar for performance and accountability.
-
Collaborate with the internal compliance team to ensure course content reflects current leave and accommodations law.
-
Partner with Product to keep training current as new features ship and ensure customers are properly enabled.
-
Oversee the learning platform, including its integration with internal systems and single sign-on for both employees and customers.
-
Report on program health and results to leadership, proactively escalating risks or delays.
-
Represent AbsenceSoft in industry and partner conversations related to leave and accommodations education.
-
Support organizational security and compliance controls across your role, team, and department.
Qualifications
-
7+ years of experience in customer education, training, or L&D, including a few years managing a team.
-
A proven track record of building or scaling a training or certification function at a B2B SaaS or technology company.
-
Comfort managing a certification program end-to-end: exam design, renewal tracking, and vendor relationships.
-
Hands-on experience running a learning management system β from course design through reporting β with platforms such as Skilljar, Docebo, or Absorb, including experience integrating that platform with Salesforce or another CRM.
-
Meaningful depth in leave and accommodations compliance is a strong plus β a CLMS or CPDM certification, or equivalent hands-on experience with FMLA, ADA, or state leave programs.
-
Familiarity with DMEC or similar credentialing organizations, and experience partnering with legal or compliance teams to keep training current.
-
A genuine preference for building things yourself, comfortable operating hands-on while blending individual contribution with team leadership.
-
High personal standards for content quality and accuracy, especially where compliance is involved.
-
A proactive communicator who raises risks or delays early rather than waiting to be asked.
-
An adaptable operator, comfortable balancing long-term strategy with day-to-day content and program work.
