Role Description
The position of Digital Learning Technologist is responsible for the design, build, configuration, maintenance, and quality assurance of high-quality digital learning environments across Milpark’s learning systems and platforms. The role plays a critical part in enabling excellent academic staff and student experience by ensuring that course pages, assessments, templates, engagement tools, dates, workflows, and system integrations are accurately built, technically sound, and aligned to institutional and academic requirements.
Reporting to the Academic Manager: Digital Learning Systems, this role combines strong technical capability with a service-oriented approach to supporting the effective delivery of teaching and learning in the digital environment.

Works across the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Student Information System (SIS), and associated educational technologies.

Ensures integrated components function effectively and that course delivery is supported by well-structured, reliable, and student-friendly digital spaces.

Requires a high level of attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and a strong understanding of how different digital systems, platforms, data structures, and academic requirements interact.

Expected to build trusted working relationships with academic staff, project teams, IT teams, and other internal stakeholders.

May include mentoring new team members to ensure high standards of service delivery and technical quality.
Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree (at minimum) or a postgraduate degree (preferred) in one of the following or related fields:

Education with a focus on Technology Integration

Platform specific certifications (Moodle/Canvas/Blackboard/D2L)

IT Support certifications (IT Fundamentals/IT Support)
Requirements

Minimum of 4–5 years’ relevant experience in digital learning, learning technology, LMS administration, course build, educational technology support, or a closely related environment.

Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining course pages within an LMS, preferably Canvas.

Demonstrated experience in configuring digital assessments within an LMS, including assignments, quizzes, gradebook settings, dates, and release conditions.

Experience embedding student engagement tools and activities within the LMS to support effective course delivery and student participation.

Experience working with integrated digital environments, including the relationship between the LMS, SIS, and associated platforms.

Experience in a higher education institution or similarly complex learning environment will be strongly advantageous.

Experience supporting academic or operational stakeholders in a digital learning context will be advantageous.

Experience in quality assurance, pre-launch checking, testing, and issue resolution in digital course delivery will be advantageous.
