[Hiring] Secondary Teacher, Science (9-12) @Stellar Virtual

Role Description

The Secondary Teacher, Science (Chemistry & Physics) will be responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in physical science while fostering critical thinking and scientific inquiry. This position will primarily focus on inquiry-based learning and technology integration and require the ability to support diverse learners and promote academic excellence to fulfill our mission of empowering families and unleashing potential.

• Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual lessons aligned with Indiana Science Standards for grades 9-12.
• Utilize diverse online teaching methods, resources, and technologies to meet varied learning styles and needs.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that incorporate inquiry-based learning, lab experiences, technology integration, and differentiated instruction.
• Provide timely and clear feedback on student work to enhance understanding and growth.
• Facilitate small group instruction and offer individualized student support.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
• Implement the Stellar Virtual science curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to individual student needs.
• Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor learning and inform instruction.
• Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies.
• Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to enhance the science curriculum.
• Maintain regular and effective communication with students and parents regarding progress, assignments, and concerns.
• Respond promptly to student and parent inquiries via email, phone, and virtual meetings.
• Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
• Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on online teaching best practices.
• Work collaboratively with student support services (e.g., counselors, special education) to address student needs.
• Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
• Experience teaching Chemistry and Physics.
• Demonstrated experience using online learning platforms and educational technology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
• Passion for working with students and fostering their academic growth in science.
• Residency in the state of Indiana is required.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Science, Science Education, Chemistry, Physics or a related field.
• A valid Indiana teaching license with an endorsement in Physical Science (grades 9-12) or equivalent.
