Role Description

The primary responsibility of the Regional Admissions Counselor – Kansas City is to educate prospective students and families about the University of Arkansas and its programs. This position is expected to reside in the Kansas City, MO/KS metro area, and requires extensive year-round travel to high schools and colleges throughout the assigned territory. While based in Kansas City, the territory also includes the states of Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa.

  • This position will have necessary travel to the Fayetteville, AR campus when needed for special events, training, etc.
  • Develop and manage a pool of prospective students in the assigned territory.
  • Plan and implement effective recruitment strategies utilizing our CRM to set goals and monitor progress.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with education constituents including counselors, AP teachers, University of Arkansas alumni, parents, as well as regional recruitment networks.
  • Assume other related areas of responsibility as assigned or required by the senior university administration.
  • Assist regional team during high volume periods.
  • Give presentations and interact with large groups of prospective students.
  • Must have strong communications skills both verbal and written.
  • Frequent travel either by vehicle and/or travel by air is required.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty.
  • Ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • At least one year of experience in enrollment services, academic advising, or recruiting.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education (preferred).
  • At least two years of experience in enrollment services, academic advising, or recruiting (preferred).
  • At least one year of experience as an admissions counselor, student ambassador, or orientation leader (preferred).
  • Knowledge of higher education admissions office procedures and policies.
  • Proven organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, demonstrate attention to detail, meet deadlines, and think creatively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, including the ability to present to a large audience.
