Role Description

The main purpose of this role is to manage the development of new strategic or bespoke developments as well as contribute to the review of our existing qualification portfolio.

The Qualifications Developer plays a pivotal role at TQUK, ensuring the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of high-quality qualifications that align with regulatory requirements and industry needs. Their work directly contributes to the organisation’s reputation, growth, and ability to deliver value to learners, centres, and employers.

This role is well suited to someone who takes ownership of their work and helps keep projects moving forward. They stay organised, support progress from start to finish, address challenges as they arise, and help ensure deadlines are met and outcomes are delivered to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and deliver multiple projects with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Research and scope new development opportunities to ensure they are viable, relevant, competitive, and aligned with TQUK’s strategic goals.
  • Manage the full qualification lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to launch, review, and withdrawal.
  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure all qualification development work complies with regulatory requirements and meets the needs of centres, learners, and industry.
  • Create and review support materials, including specifications and factsheets, to assist colleagues, centres, tutors, and learners.
  • Maintain accuracy and compliance in the production of all documentation, implementing effective version control.
  • Collaborate and onboard Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design high-quality, innovative, and compliant qualifications.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to validate qualification content and secure endorsement or approval for qualifications.
  • Support the preparation of documentation for submission to regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with all relevant standards.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental activities to ensure smooth project implementation and timely qualification launches.
  • Provide detailed information and expert guidance on qualifications in response to queries from centres and internal colleagues.
  • Support the maintenance and review of the qualification portfolio to ensure full compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Gather feedback from centres to support the continuous improvement of qualifications.
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure qualifications meet regulatory requirements and support the resolution of any internal issues.
  • Follow and manage the withdrawal process for qualifications identified for removal.
  • Maintain our database of qualifications to ensure all entries are up to date and accurate.
  • Implement and adhere to established processes and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance in all development activities.
  • Continuously support the updating and improvement of internal process and procedures to enhance efficiency in qualification development.
  • Keep up to date with regulator updates, policies, and initiatives relating to qualification development.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working within an Awarding Organisation or within an educational setting.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and requirements, including General Conditions of Recognition (GCoR).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages and familiarity with project management tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring a high level of accuracy in all documentation and tasks.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work both independently using own initiative and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to make well-informed and evidence-based decisions.
