Role Description

This position is being posted to fill an existing vacancy.

We are seeking an adaptable, detail-oriented, and strong communicator and leader in early childhood education, who will be accountable for leading and collaborating on the development of College policy, initiatives and resources related to supporting members to understand and adhere to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, and to understand and comply with the College’s Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) Program.

Reporting to the Director, Professional Practice, the key areas of responsibility are to:

• Lead projects to facilitate the application of the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice (Code and Standards) and the Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) Program for early childhood educators in Ontario.
• Conduct research to inform policy, program and resource development to support application of the Code and Standards and the CPL Program.
• Collaborate with other departments to create, disseminate and facilitate understanding of the Code and Standards and CPL Program content, and address practice issues from a stance of prevention.
• Respond to member and public queries regarding complex practice issues, referencing appropriate legislation and resources.
• Contribute to College-wide and department planning and operational activities.
• Prepare a variety of documents including reports, briefing notes, correspondence, position papers, and presentations for College executive, Council and committees.
• Facilitate presentations, workshops and consultations with members and sector partners.
• Represent the College/department on external/internal committees and working groups.
• Provide specialist staff support to Standards of Practice Committee.

Qualifications

• Four-year college or university program in early childhood education or a related field (e.g., education, social sciences).
• Registered Early Childhood Educator.
• 3 to 5 years’ experience including experience in the early learning and child care sector.
• Knowledge of the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007, Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and the CPL Program.
• Research, analytical and judgement skills to conduct research, analyze data and develop recommendations to meet the College’s objectives related to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and the CPL Program.
• Flexibility to work well independently and in a team in an environment with changing priorities.
• Written communication skills to prepare a variety of written materials (e.g., presentations, briefing notes, reports, practice resources) for members and other stakeholders related to professional practice.
• Verbal communication, public speaking/presentation and interpersonal skills to communicate with a variety of parties (e.g., members, employers) to present information and/or facilitate discussions on professional practice matters.
• Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
