[Hiring] Part-Time Professor - Principles of Sociology @University of Ottawa

Role Description

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor for the course "Principles of Sociology" (SOC1101) at the Faculty of Social Sciences, École d’études sociologiques et anthropologiques.

• Course Description: Introduction to the principal fields, the concepts, and the essential methods of sociological analysis.
• Focus on sociology and the other social sciences, critical thinking, and techniques of intellectual work.
• This course is intended primarily for students who are not enrolled in a program in sociology.
• Course Schedule:
  • Monday 8:30-10:00
  • Thursday 10:00-11:30 - Online (synchronous)

Qualifications

• M.A. in sociology or more advanced training in sociology.
• Demonstrable track record of expertise in the field of Principles of Sociology.
• Previous teaching experience in the same or similar course or through publications in the field.

Requirements

• Employees are required under provincial law to successfully complete all mandatory legislated training.

Benefits

• Hourly Rate: Teaching: $239.47 (2024-2025).
• Work Hours: 39.
• Number of credits: 3.
• The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.
• These rates do not include vacation pay nor statutory pay.
• Retro pay will be provided after the ratification of a new collective agreement.
