Role Description

Instructeur de langue à temps partiel (ILOB) / Part-Time Language Instructor (OLBI) for the course titled "Elementary: Speaking and Writing Skills" (ESL 1212).

• Course Description: Introduction to basic English language Speaking and Writing skills including grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and pronunciation.
• Development of oral communication through guided conversation and short presentations related to the university workplace.
• Written expression at the sentence level.
• Language learning strategies for language production in the university context.
• Course Schedule:
  • From September 29 to December 10, 2026 (no course during reading week); Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Please note that this course is given online (virtual mode).

Qualifications

• B.A. with specialization in a field relevant to the teaching of L2 English or Higher Certificate in L2 French Teaching.
• Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college and/or university level.
• Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course.
• Experience with heterogeneous groups.

Benefits

• Hourly Rate: ILOB - Cours de langue au personnel / OLBI - Personnel Language Courses: $115.43 (2024-2025).
• These rates do not include vacation pay nor statutory pay.
• These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.
