Role Description

ECPI University is seeking Mechanical Engineering Technology and Civil Engineering Technology Instructors to teach undergraduate students in a hands-on, career-focused environment. This is an excellent opportunity for engineering professionals looking to transition into education—no prior teaching experience required. We provide comprehensive training, mentoring, and ongoing faculty support to help you succeed.

Our ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree programs prepare students for real-world careers, and we are looking for industry experts who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and making a meaningful impact. Classes are delivered in 5-week accelerated terms with small class sizes, allowing for personalized instruction. Evening and weekend availability is required to support our adult learners.

• Teach undergraduate Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology courses
• Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction aligned with industry practices
• Support student learning in a fast-paced, 5-week course format
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and academic support to students
• Troubleshoot basic technical/software issues for students as needed
• Participate in scheduled live sessions and office hours (online faculty)

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field OR Master’s degree with 18+ graduate semester hours in the discipline
• Ph.D. preferred
• Minimum 1+ year of relevant industry experience required (7+ years preferred)
• Industry experience must be within the past 5 years
• Teaching, training, or mentoring experience is a plus
• Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D design software
• Mechanical Engineering Technology (Preferred): Machine Tool Technology, CNC G-Code programming, CAD/CAM software
• Civil Engineering Technology (Required): Geomatics & Surveying, Fluid Science
• Additional Areas of Interest: Drafting & Modeling, Engineering Mechanics, Manufacturing & Machining, Machine Design & FEA, Thermal & Fluid Sciences
• Mechatronics Candidates: Background in control systems, instrumentation, and mechanical systems
• Relevant technical certifications or professional licensure (if applicable)
