Role Description

Hoot Reading is a leading online tutoring provider delivering 1:1, evidence-based literacy instruction through a network of qualified teachers. Partnering with K–12 school districts, educational organizations, and families across North America, Hoot provides high-impact tutoring and intervention during the school day, afterschool, and at home.

Teachers at Hoot provide 1:1 Structured Literacy lessons over videocall inside an innovative tech platform that supports individualized assessment and instruction for each student, working with them exactly in the skill areas they need!

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education (or equivalent) is required.
• 2+ years of K-6 teaching experience with a strong grasp of phonics, decoding, and reading fundamentals.
• Tech-savvy with a reliable laptop, internet, and quiet workspace.
• Maintains professionalism and effectiveness while working with competing priorities and diverse student needs.
• Creates inclusive learning environments where students feel respected, valued, and supported.
• Demonstrates resilience and flexibility when addressing complex academic, behavioral, and social-emotional challenges.
• Experience supporting English learners and multilingual students is a plus.

Requirements

• Availability to support lessons between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM CT, Monday through Thursday.
• Peak teaching hours between 8:30 AM and 1:00 PM CT.
• Part-time role with hours varying based on student enrollment and scheduling needs.
• Commitment to work 5–15 hours per week, depending on program demand and alignment with your availability.
• Consistency in availability across multiple weekdays (Monday to Thursday) for student meetings.
