[Hiring] Online English Tutor for K-5 Students @Work-Study Required at UW–Madison

Role Description

IvyRead is an educational startup focused on promoting English proficiency among English as Second Language students through the use of authentic leveled reading materials.

• Teach Online: Conduct 1-on-1 (or small group) English lessons via online meeting tool.
• Engage Students: Create a supportive and interactive learning environment to help students improve their reading comprehension, speaking, and critical thinking skills.
• Lesson Planning: Plan and customize lessons based on students' needs.

Qualifications

• Current UW-Madison student (Work-Study required).
• Major in English, Education, Journalism, Humanities, or related fields.
• Previous tutoring or teaching experience is a strong plus.
• Native English proficiency with excellent communication skills.
• Patient, energetic, and capable of working with younger students (K to G5).
• Reliable internet connection and a quiet teaching environment.

Requirements

• Ability to sit in front of a computer and camera for 40 minutes to conduct one teaching session.

Benefits

• Minimum wage: $20.00
• Remote work eligibility: All Remote
• Anticipated hours per week: Minimum 1.5, Maximum 10
• Teaching schedule: Early mornings, primarily between 6:00 am to 8:30 am CT.
