Role Description

Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre requires a permanent, part-time (30 hours per week) Online Educational Assistant. This position can be located in the following campuses with available space: Regina, Saskatoon, Kenaston, Estevan, Moose Jaw, Meadow Lake, or Prince Albert.

Online Educational Assistants provide a range of support services that help students to achieve their academic, social, physical, and personal potential. They aid students with intensive needs by providing support for:

• Developing life skills and experiences
• Academic support
• Communication
• Behavioral support as required by students and directed by teachers in an online environment

This position requires excellent communication, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, considerable experience in relevant technology, understanding of the challenges of online learning, and the ability to work independently in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma
• Work experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Previous experience working with individuals with learning or cognitive challenges (considered an asset)
• Post-secondary education in a related field (considered an asset)
• Advanced computer skills and experience using a variety of software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)

• Work as a collaborative member of a team that may include various educational professionals
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate student records
• Support student achievement by implementing teacher direction
• Provide support for students with special needs and learning disabilities
• Encourage students to communicate with their teachers
• Participate in parent-student-teacher meetings when requested
• Coordinate, organize, or schedule, and proctor exams
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Campus Principal or Vice-Principal

Benefits

• Salary (Level 3 $23.53/hr to $26.21/hr)
• Benefits in accordance with C.U.P.E. 5544 Collective Agreement (September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2027)
