Role Description
In this course, students are introduced to the role, scope, and standards of practice of the adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner. Topics covered include:

Foundations of diagnostic reasoning

Strategies to integrate theory and current evidence
-
Person-centered primary care of the adult-gerontology primary care population
-
Analysis of legal, ethical, social, cultural, and global factors impacting primary healthcare
Reporting Relationships:

Adjunct Faculty will report to an Academic Dean
Responsibilities:
-
Competency-Based Education (CBE) allows students to master content and skills at their own pace.
-
CBE courses are broken into multiple self-paced modules with assessments at the end.
-
CBE Combined Instructional/Assessment Adjunct Faculty model consists of one faculty member facilitating and grading student assignments.

Faculty are responsible for running live sessions based on student need, covering various topics including:

Help with submissions
-
Open office hours
-
Content delivery
-
General success strategies
-
Grading facilitated through detailed rubrics and feedback.

Faculty are responsible for creating a classroom presence in support of students in collaboration with their Dean.

Faculty Meetings and other responsibilities include:
-
Attending events, programmatic meetings, and committee work as designated by the Dean
-
Exhibiting appropriate behavior, language, professional communication, demeanor, and dress at all times
-
Professional Development: Faculty must complete a minimum of six (6) Rasmussen Educational Units (REUs) annually or two (2) REUs per quarter for each quarter taught.
Qualifications
-
Teaching experience preferred (Minimum of 3 yearsβ experience in the field of study)

Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
-
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with students, leadership, and peers
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Online adjuncts will need regular access to a computer with the following system requirements:

Windows XP or greater

Microsoft Office 2010

An internet connection
Requirements
-
Doctorate in Nursing
-
Must hold active Minnesota RN License and certified AGNP or FNP
-
2-3 years experience as an AGNP or FNP
-
Must provide professional licenses/certifications required for specialized schools (Health Sciences, Nursing) before teaching
-
Must provide official transcripts for each degree earned from an accredited institution before teaching
