Role Description

Are you ready to take your coaching to the next level and make an impact in international age-grade sevens? Rugby Canada is seeking a dedicated and motivated pathway coach to lead our U17 Men’s Sevens team at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, Africa.

• Preparation camp: Dates to be confirmed (circa. 22 -27 October 2026)
• Games Village in Senegal: 28 October – 5 November 2026
• Rugby Sevens Competition: 1 – 3 November 2026

Player age band:

• Players born on or between 14 November 2008 – 31 October 2011 Inclusive (aged 15 – 17 years during the Games period).

This role requires someone who can work effectively both independently and within a small management team on planning, selection, and all team-related matters. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, initiative, and problem-solving skills, while remaining calm under pressure. Effective communication is essential for successful collaboration and navigating challenges that may arise during the campaign.

This role is part-time and campaign-based, involving international travel. It offers a nominal honorarium and the opportunity to gain valuable experience. Travel to and from camps and the Games, as well as ground expenses, will be covered.

Qualifications

• Must hold a minimum of a World Rugby Level 2 coaching qualification (preferably with or working towards Level 3)
• Currently coaching within the rugby pathway in Canada
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Willing to travel within Canada and internationally (holds valid passport)
• Have international touring experience (preferably with multi-sport games experience)
