[Hiring] Lecturer: Management Accounting and Finance @Milpark Education Pty Ltd

Role Description

The position falls within the Postgraduate Department of the School of Professional Accounting (formerly known as CA Connect). The appointee will join the Management Accounting and Finance subject team.

The subject team is responsible for all aspects of delivering Management Accounting and Finance in the SAICA-accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (“PGDA”, CTA equivalent) and Bridging course.

All staff in the department work remotely and therefore, applications from anywhere in South Africa will be accepted.

• Research expectation: This role does not carry an expectation for formal research. Our focus is on applying best practices rather than traditional research output.
• After-hours availability:
  • Flexible programs accommodate working students with synchronous, online live sessions after-hours weekly.
  • Sessions occur between 5:30pm and 6:30pm on weeknights (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday for MACF).
  • Academic staff are expected to be available for after-hours online, one-on-one consultations with students.
• Remote working and travel expectations:
  • All staff must have a stable internet connection, a backup plan for loadshedding, and a suitable home office environment.
  • Staff are expected to travel to Cape Town for in-person meetings roughly 4 times per year, with travel costs covered by Milpark.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to delivery of all subject responsibilities.
• Working collaboratively with all staff of the department.
• Material development and maintenance.
• Live online session delivery to large groups of students.
• Small group and one-on-one online consultations with students.
• Assessment setting.
• Marking leadership.

Qualifications

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)).
• 2+ years’ experience teaching management accounting and/or finance (at an undergraduate or postgraduate level to CA or non-CA students).
• Experience in setting management accounting and/or finance assessments.
• Demonstrable ethical behaviour.
• A reliable home internet connection.
• A suitable home working environment.

Requirements

• Technical competence in management accounting and finance topics examinable at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• A passion for developing students through genuine care.
• An industrious and gregarious attitude with the ability to learn, solve problems, innovate, and complete tasks without close supervision.
• Emotional intelligence with an aptitude and desire to build relationships.
• Moderate IT competence.
