Role Description

The Learner Experience Lead operates within the Launch Lab to bridge the gap between work-ready learners and real-world employment, freelancing, or entrepreneurship opportunities. This relationship-driven role blends learner coaching, mentorship, facilitation, programme coordination, and learning experience design to ensure candidates successfully transition into income-generating pathways. The Lead designs and refines clear, engaging learning journeys while managing large cohorts, diagnosing systemic friction, and supporting learners through practical interview, bidding, or venture preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage large cohorts of learners, tracking progress, engagement, readiness, and data accurately.
• Connect work-ready learners to employment, freelancing, and entrepreneurship opportunities in partnership with placement teams.
• Drive and hold learners accountable for proactively identifying, seeking out, and applying for relevant jobs, gigs, hackathons, and networking events.
• Design, review, and continuously improve Launch Lab programme experiences using cohort data, learner feedback, and instructional design principles.
• Provide destination-specific practical preparation, including interview practice, freelancing bidding guidance, and business growth support.
• Collaborate with cohort LX Coaches to coordinate targeted coaching, interventions, and support.
• Provide leadership and support to junior coaches and interns, modeling high standards of professionalism and accountability.
• Navigate internal learning systems, tools, and platforms while proposing solutions to technical or process blockers.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in facilitation, coaching, mentorship, programme coordination, or youth development.
• Strong understanding of youth development, instructional design, and learner-centred practice.
• Technical proficiency in navigating learning systems, tools, internal documentation, and AI tools.
• Proven ability to analyze cohort data, identify friction points, and apply continuous improvement principles to learning experiences.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills with a coaching-led approach that balances empathy with accountability.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage large cohorts and handle complex transitions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills suited for a remote-first collaborative environment.
• Experience working with South African youth contexts and diverse talent pools is advantageous.
