[Hiring] Instructional Designer @Planful

Role Description

We're hiring an Instructional Designer to help build the learning content that turns Planful users into confident, capable customers. You'll create the course guides, lab exercises, and certification assessments that make up our Academy catalog — and keep them accurate as the product evolves.

This role is equal parts craft and curiosity. The ideal candidate is a strong writer who can translate complex, technical workflows into clear, engaging learning content, and is eager to grow into new tools, subject matter, and formats as the team's needs expand.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of instructional design experience through professional work, internships, coursework, or portfolio projects.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.

Requirements

• Comfort building eLearning content with Synthesia or the ability to learn new authoring tools quickly.
• Strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to translate complex, technical workflows into clear learning content.
• Comfortable managing multiple parallel projects against release-driven deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design and build customer-facing content — course guides, slide decks, quizzes, and certification assessments.
• Maintain and update existing course content as the product evolves, keeping the Academy catalog accurate and current.
• Build hands-on lab exercises and practical activities tied to product workflows.
• Partner with SMEs, product managers, and the training team to translate new features and releases into structured learning content.
• Support development of NASBA CPE-accredited on-demand courses for accounting and finance professionals.
• Use AI-powered tools to accelerate research, storyboarding, and course development.
• Opportunity to co-deliver webinars or office hours as product knowledge grows.

Pay Transparency Statement

At Planful our top priority is to support our employees and ensure each individual has access to equal growth opportunities. Pay decisions take into consideration the individual's skillset, experience, knowledge, qualifications for the role, and specific work location.

Our salary band for this role is $90,000 - $100,000 CAD base pay per year, dependent on working location and experience.
