[Hiring] Igbo Language Teacher @Tayari.live and Upani in Diani

Role Description

Tayari.live is a learning website that provides the opportunity for kids living in the diaspora and other parts of Africa to learn languages native to Africa. Swahili is currently the main focus of this project, with plans to expand to Yoruba, Igbo, Akan, Shona, and Krio in the coming months. The goal is to provide a fun learning experience for kids, preserving the cultures and languages of their people and fostering a sense of cultural pride.

• Provide one-on-one virtual lessons for children.
• Record lessons to give kids the opportunity to self-learn.
• Payment is per group lesson taught at a rate of $6-9 per class (estimated duration of classes will be 40 minutes depending on age) or $10 to $14 an hour, depending on experience, longevity, and skills/ratings.
• Opportunity to become a full-time teacher after a probation period to be determined.

Qualifications

• At least two years of experience in teaching, tutoring, coaching, or mentoring.
• 4-year degree from a university (degree in Igbo or Languages not mandatory but beneficial).
• Good knowledge of spoken and written Igbo.
• Excellent written & spoken English, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite and/or Google Workplace.
• Proficiency in Online Meeting Applications.

Requirements

• Desktop or Laptop required.
• Fast and stable internet connection (recommended wired high-speed internet connection of ≥ 25 Mb/s).
• Stable power supply and a backup power source in case of interruptions.
