Role Description

The John A. Dutton Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for part-time Teaching/Grading Assistant positions supporting online geospatial programs during the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 academic years.

Successful candidates will support online geospatial courses offered through Penn State World Campus by:

• Assisting with grading assignments
• Providing timely, rubric-based feedback to students

Course topics may include:

• Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Spatial Data Science
• Remote Sensing
• Geospatial Programming

Responsibilities include:

• Evaluating student work in the learning management system
• Applying established grading criteria consistently
• Helping ensure prompt feedback to support student engagement and success in a fully online learning environment

This position requires:

• Strong attention to detail
• The ability to follow grading guidelines
• Familiarity with geospatial concepts or related coursework
• Experience with online learning platforms and geospatial tools (preferred)

Requirements

• Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies
