Role Description
Medtronic's Structural Heart organization continues to grow and thrive around the world. This critical role will play an integral part in the continued expansion of global Structural Heart therapies and portfolio by developing the training curriculum strategy and standards for the next generation of clinical and product field sales employees.
The goal of the Principal Instructional Design Specialist is to drive the growth of the sales organization within the Structural Heart Operating Unit by enhancing their clinical and commercial capabilities through world-class training programs. The Principal Instructional Design Specialist will meet the needs of the business through advancing clinical training by implementing standardized global training curricula and training strategy.
Expectations of the role include demonstrating the behaviors of the Medtronic Mindset to ensure the Mission, strategy, and culture are driven throughout our commercial teams.
This position is remote to enhance our competitive edge and expand our cross-functional collaboration efforts. This role will require 20% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.
Key responsibilities include:

Drive meaningful solutions across the training continuum including, but not limited to, new hires, current sellers, advanced training, recertifications, and product launches.

Use gap analysis discussions with Marketing and Sales to develop programs that build new capabilities to address identified gaps and align with future needs of the organization.

Create instructional design deliverables that adhere to modern learner principles and the concept of the flipped classroom.

Collaborate closely with training managers, SMEs, project managers, and multi-media specialists to develop various deliverables such as digital training assets, job aids, infographics, classroom activities, live virtual instructor-led classes, assessments, workbooks, etc.

Organize and transform raw content into usable, logical, concise, functional training documents.

Ensure design documents adhere to Medtronic verbal identity standards, content design standards, legal, regulatory and intellectual property standards.

Design content to align with the learning needs of the target audience.

Repurpose content to align the learning needs of the target audience.

Structure content and activities to maximize learning and retention.

Incorporate multi-media support learning (visual aids for face-to-face, various multimedia).

Develop assessments for classroom activities and exams.

Collaborate with functional partners to execute with speed and quality.

Ensure curriculum design includes metrics to demonstrate effectiveness of training and business impact.
Qualifications

Bachelorβs Degree required with 7+ years of relevant experience in one or more of the following functions: Sales, Clinical Training, Sales Training, Marketing, Medical Education (5 years with Advanced degree).

Minimum of 5 years of field sales or clinical experience.
Requirements

MBA or Advanced degree preferred.

Experience with project management/project leadership, excellent planning and organizational skills.

In-depth learning design expertise and experience.

Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects concurrently.

Excellent influencing, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with demonstrated leadership and coaching capabilities.

Self-motivator who can apply innovative thinking to define solutions to business problems; solution-oriented.

In-depth knowledge of the field sales organization, structure, processes and culture.
