Role Description

The University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic welcomes applications for a Regional First-Year Admissions Counselor for the Madison/Milwaukee area. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Admissions-Recruitment and plays a very important role in the recruitment and outreach activities of the Admissions Office. The goals are to increase the number of applicants to the University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic and to enroll a talented and diverse student body.

• Meet with prospective students and their families, high school counselors, various groups on and off campus, alumni, and other contacts to promote educational opportunities.
• Establish and nurture relationships that can serve as a conduit for students to learn about UW-Stout Polytechnic.
• Collaborate with other Admissions Office staff members to coordinate recruitment activities.
• This position is a 12-month annual role and is fully remote located in the Milwaukee/Madison Area.
• Must be able and willing to travel up to 75% of the time throughout the region and work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (degree must be posted by hire date)
• Previous experience in admissions, recruiting, sales, education, or other related fields
• Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Excellent written communication skills
• Excellent public speaking skills, including the ability to present information effectively to large and small groups
• 1 year of professional experience
• Willingness to travel
• Valid driver’s license

Requirements

• Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution
• Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
• Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals
• Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences
• Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission
• Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students
• Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities
• May supervise staff and/or lead a program area
• Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures
• Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events
