Role Description

As a member of the School of Access, Education and Language faculty team for eCampus, you will:

  • Provide theoretical and practical instruction in the online asynchronous Adult Learning Program (ALP).
  • Teach Academic Biology and Academic Chemistry alongside graduate Human Biology and Food Science courses (one position).
  • Teach Global Geography, Oceans, Digital Technology and Work Experience courses (second position).
  • Advise a caseload of approximately twenty ALP students studying part-time for their Nova Scotia High School Graduation Diploma for Adults.
  • Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners.
  • Prepare, instruct, assess, and evaluate students using a broad range of flexible teaching and learning practices and technologies.
  • Engage in related duties including academic and career advisement, participating on committees, program marketing, and curriculum revision/development.
  • Support and monitor work placements and liaise with business and industry.
  • Uphold NSCC policies and procedures and ensure health and safety practices are followed.
  • Maintain currency with the latest industry practices and continually develop understanding of 21st-century teaching and learning practices.
  • May involve different delivery modalities (e.g., in-class, online, blended) and alternate work hours such as weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master of Education and/or a relevant university degree in Math, English/Communications, Social Sciences, Humanities, or Sciences.
  • Minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent teaching experience at the high school or post-secondary level.
  • Flexibility to prepare and deliver a broad range of subjects.
  • Experience in a team teaching environment and a strong track record of collaboration.
  • Experience in curriculum and resource development.
  • Experience teaching online and/or using e-learning technology in a blended format.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management Systems (e.g., Brightspace).
  • Good internet skills to search and evaluate information.
  • Comfortable working in a digital environment and committed to using technology for an exceptional student experience.
  • Ideally, related experience in delivering educational programs or training to adults.
  • Knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, and occupation-specific safety practices.
  • Comfortable using multi-media technologies and engaging students in online and blended learning capacities.
  • Willing to participate in training for online/blended teaching if no previous experience.

Benefits

  • Salary scale based on twelve steps ranging from $78,771.88 - $104,267.58.
  • Potential for up to five steps for full-time equivalent years of instructional experience.
  • Additional four steps for relevant occupational experience.
  • Maximum expected salary for new Faculty is $97,388.02.
