Role Description

STGi is currently seeking an Early Childhood Specialist (ECS) to support our Head Start Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) team in Region 9 (AZ, CA, NV). The position is remote with travel up to 50% as assigned.

The Early Childhood Specialist (ECS) provides professional expertise in early childhood education and development through assisting grant recipients with:

• Consultation
• Training
• Policy and procedure development
• Statewide agency collaboration

Key areas include:

• Ongoing child assessment
• Curriculum identification and implementation
• Dual language learners
• School readiness outcomes
• Family engagement

The ECS provides intensive training and technical assistance to HS/EHS recipients based on Regional or Area Office assignments, which require travel and the ability to work on-site for periods ranging from one day to several weeks.

Qualifications

• Expertise in early childhood education and development
• Experience with Head Start programs
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders

Requirements

• Provide on-site, group, or virtual TTA to HS/EHS grant recipients related to:
• School readiness
• Family engagement
• Professional development
• Implementation of a research-based coaching model
• Provide TTA related to:
• Selection and implementation of ongoing child assessment
• Curriculum, teaching, and learning environments
• Support recipients to improve:
• Teacher/child interactions as described by the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS)
• Understanding and use of data from multiple sources
• Family engagement practices
• Transition practices for birth to five
• Collaboration with Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and other partners
• Coordinate TTA with Grantee, Family Engagement, and Health Specialists
• Maintain regular and timely communication with Regional or Area Office staff
• Provide data entry of action steps and progress in required OHS reporting systems
• Participate in various meetings as directed by OHS and the ECS Manager
• Support emerging OHS initiatives and priorities
